What a wonderful answer! I asked because when I travel, I like to get to know a city through its art and those are often the visual memories that stay with me.
I visited St Peter's on a dark November day - not many tourists. I have never been so stunned walking through the doorway of a building. The sheer scale.
In the end, those boys' looks of triumph and chagrin have become so entwined with my memories of the statue that I can't fully say if it's just the sculpture that's so memorable or the entire experience. Those are two great memories to intertwine!
