One of these days...

I will actually do some non-SV related art. Hell, I may even do some non-SV lj posts. Really I will.

But today is not that day.

Yet another pic, not based on any fic, but comes from the fact that I live Japan, and much adore onsen (Japanese hot springs) and the mental image of CLex going to one was too good to pass up ^_^

As ever, love love love to hear what everyone thinks (this one has taken me the longest yet :-p)

This is really lovely - I love the slight shy tilt to Clark's head, where you can guess that even if he and Lex are intimate striping down in public still makes Clark a little shy, awwwwwww.

Shy Clark is too much fun, and anyone might get a bit shy if it's LEX staring at 'em ^_-

Wooo, you're great at colouring!! (this is my envy speaking...)I particularly love the sakura and the lantern. And Clark's robe must have been a lot of work, it looks fantastic!

Out of interest, how do you draw your art? Do you use pencils or a graphic tablet (or both)?

Glad you like it! I had waaay to much fun with Clark's robe actually (cloth has been one of my favorite things to draw for a long time now )

I usually sketch in pencil first, then scan it in and do all coloring on the computer, in photo shop, using a tablet. I used to do more detail sketches, bu t recently, I've just been doing quick ones and leaving all the details for the computer. Being able to zoom in and have multiple layers is incredibly useful!

I love this art work. The manner in which you captured the light is perfect. You can tell that it's night with the deep shadows and muted colours, which gives the image such a wonderful sense of intimacy. And then the lamps throw that warm glow into the water so that it looks like the water is blushing.

The steam coming off the hotsprings is subtle and gives suggestion that the water is deliciously warm without hitting you upside the head with the information. There's a slight white to the areas of the translucent blue sake bottle and cups in the direction that the light from the lamps would be hitting them – beautifully shown. The blossom which is falling is a bit blurred to indicate motion, and you can easily see which blossom on the water fell recently and which has been floating along for some time from the ripple effect in the water. I thought that was brilliant to show motion in the blossoms, in the movement of water and in the fall of Clark's robe. Very dynamic without reducing the quiet anticipation of the piece.

The boys are beautiful, strong and sexy. Lex looks so lickable just lounging against the rocks, secure in his desirability, with that intense excitement in his eyes and quirky smile he offers when he's about to get what he wants. You captured that look so perfectly! I'm very impressed!

Clark is a bit of an enigma. This gorgeous man slipping out of a silk robe, his muscles in his shoulder area tense, and his ass just so well detailed that my eyes kept traveling down to rest on his crack (yes, I'm a perv. but I prefer to think that your art was subtly enabling my perviness). From the way Clark's head and eyes are trained downward, he's either using his x-ray vision to get a good look at Lex's family jewels under the water, or he's about to lose his cherry. I'm going with the second option due to the tenseness of his neck muscles and the foreshadowing of the cherry tree losing it's blossoms around Lex. And because it just *feels* that way (I mentioned that I'm pervy before right).

I've never gone into such detail about someone's art before, but I felt I had to with this one because it captured my attention completely and really wouldn't let go until I verbalized my appreciation.

Mmmm, lickable Lex, it's how I *always* see him...especially if Clark is around...glad I was able to convey it...

I love, love, love Lex's hands. I'm impressed-cause let's face it hands are a bitch to draw-you did it wonderfully! And his abs are very finely done. Is Lex really that ripped? But, Les's left side is off. You should extend the rib-cage and abdomen back a bit further to get the proportions correct. His rib-cage and abdomen should be roughly the width that his sholders extend to.

And of course, my eyes are drawn towards Clark's pert little ass. Man, Lex has it MADE right now. A Superman disrobing through the water, warm onsen, sake, sakura, and candle light. Alllright!

I love the steam and the water-effects. As always, you have a great touch with light on water. Hm, some of the reflections seem to be off, like the light coming off the water just under the waterfall: where is it's light source?

My favorite part? Clark's kimono. I don't know how you did the pattern, but you pulled it off brilliantly. It even seems to bend and fold with the cloth. Well done!

Glad the hands work for you, they're always the hardest part for me :-p. Hates hands, precious, haaates them! Yeah, Lex's torso is a bit odd, I think...

I love doing cloth, it's always been one of my favorite things to draw...and the secret to the pattern is layers. It's all about photo shop and its layers! ^_^ Glad you like it and always so happy to get your C & C, all suggestions help so much!

Am greatly enjoying reading peoples' responses to this piece... and I thought you might appreciate having a few of my comments in writing. I really think this is one of your finest pictures to date, although the overall graphic design of the one for Astolat with Batman in the foreground comes a damn close second. You outdid yourself with the body sculpting and the fall, folds, and pattern on Clark's robe in this; and as I told you this morning, I think Lex's hand and arm are beautifully executed. While many people are finding Clark's back very attractive--and I agree--Lex's chest and stomach, his expression, and his position are all very hot and sexy as well. And the rocks, water, sakura, reflections of lantern light--everything creates a perfect mood for this; do love seeing your perceptions of Japan and Japanese art creeping into your artwork.

Very nice. Very proud of your continuing artistic achievement.

This pic is amazing! The muscles and body positioning look really good, very detailed--and Lex's hands especially look incredible. His expression is also very well done, I think--it has a lot of character to it. And the background frickin' kicks my ass. The water, especially where it's flowing downward looks real, the texture in the rocks is sweet, and the statuary/lanterns and the light that one is giving off with all the reflections in the water are just fantastic. O_o I'm very impressed.

I love how you let the the cherry blossoms fall and swim on the water...and that they are mirrored in the water....this is very atmospheric!

Thanks, I absolutely love cherry blossoms (sakura season starting soon, w00t!), I think it's almost a must, being in Japan, so was having fun drawing them. Glad it worked ^_^
