Actually, I think the show's done a pretty good job of showing that it's Rodney who believes he has to fake it for people, rather than others trying to make him (I'm thinking of Quarantine, where Katie tells him to stop being so hard on himself). He has a lifetime of negative thinking to undo, so I don't think any relationship would come easy to him (But I want it to be John *G*)
