Woot! ::rubs hands gleefully:: I love this kind of stuff. ;)
See, and here all I see is your ideal of the character, what you hope so see, what would have been NICE if the writers had actually given us it. Because WHEN have we seen that?
Very true that I wanted, very much, to like Jennifer. So I wouldn't be surprised if part of the reason I see (or agree with, because I think the show is trying to set Jennifer up as a brilliant doctor, worthy of rubbing shoulders at the head staff table) Jennifer's creativity and grit is because I'm open to it.
That Jennifer uses a defib in Tracker is shiny enough for me because it works. I don't care if it's equipment that's been used before, as I know nothing about medical equipment; it's like seeing Rodney whip out his laptop, or Ronon his gun, it fits her described skill. And it was her idea, thought up while killing Wraith and protecting sick children and unconscious men, so to me? Shiny. :)
That Jennifer hits on the nanite idea (after being elbow deep in Elizabeth's brain, and being very calm and authoritative with her staff throughout the on going emergency) is also shiny. (I do give her a pass on the "taking ownership" thing, btw. For one, she asked Rodney if the idea was viable, he said yes. So that's his call. For another, I much preferred the tension to be between John and Rodney, to see their conversation. I didn't know Jennifer enough, there wasn't enough history there, for a similar conversation between her and John to be interesting to me.)
But... I'll admit just seeing her climb up on Elizabeth's gurney, working on keeping her alive while her staff whisked them to the infirmary, was enough to trigger "ah, good doctor there, very involved, very dedicated" in me. I'm not all that into medical things (everything I know I learned on Scrubs *g*) so you just have to give me some basic tropes and I'm happy. Any other feats of medical skill are just icing and/or reminders (this is Jennifer, she's our "doctor" character).
Re: My part one of your part one...Lets try this again:-p
