Feb. 7th, 2005 03:59 pmShow of hands for who's read Plato's The Symposium? I just finished reading it for my Desire class and um...WOW the homo-eroticism! Hazaah...err...*cough*. In truth, it's put my slash side at war with my feminist nature. On the one hand, lots of famous greek guys going on about their male lovers, well, love in general and having that all out flirt fest at the end...on the other hand, several of the speeches have rather a put down on women, suggesting that the "greater" love happens between men because women just are not good enough for it. Ah well, different times, different views...
But STILL all these famous greek philosophers outright fawning and fighting over whom gets to lie next to whom, and who praises whom and being jealous lovers and just...umm, the little slash fan girl inside of me is going *wai wai wai wai*...better now...really! ;)...I'm a bad, BAD person, aren't I? ;) Amen to those "unpeakable vices of the Greeks"!!!
