HOMG, saw X-men: First Class last night and no WONDER my twitter/flist has been going NUTS!

Cut for some possibly spoilery squee and maybe one or two criticisms, but mainly the SQUEE! )

So basically, to sum up, LOVED IT and need fic now, plzkthnks!
gnine: (SGA chibi John Yay)
As anyone who knows me well knows, just the huggles part is enough to make for a good weekend for me (for those who don't, I'll freely admit I'm kinda a cuddles addict! ^_-) The fact that one of the weekend's many hugs was with Ben Browder (Crichton, Farscape) was just one piece in a squee-packed two days.

Bringing William Shatner his tea (and Elisabeth Sladen--Sarah Jane Smith, Doctor Who--her coffee) was another!

My ridiculously fun, if hectic, London Film and Comic Con experience! )

A big, humongous thank you to everyone who voted for me for the McShep Awards. I love you guys!!! *big huggles to all!*

So, over the past few days, in between classes, homework and a party, I've been doing something I've been meaning to do for several years now: catch up on One Piece. (For the last four years or so, I've only been reading it intermittently...often while standing around in a conbini, flipping through the latest Jump and Shonen Magazine and oh look, another thing I miss about Japan! :-p) And now, 250 scanlated chapters later, I've just caught up and just...asldkjfalkdjfalkkdj!!! HOMG...the sheer epic-ness of it all!!!

Large amounts of squee, caps, and of course, spoilers galore, up through chapter 562 of the manga... )
So...to sum up, I love Odacchi, my soul once more belongs to him and oh, can we have the next chapter NOW, plzkthnks!?!?!?!?

...also, I totally need to make some OP icons!

Every year, around this time, I've seen many a flist member doing this but haven't ever done so myself, never having produced enough in any given year to bother with it. But then, having read the latest batch, I was thinking back and realized that 2008, or rather, SGA, made for a VERY productive year (rarely have I done this many pieces and NEVER for one fandom), so:

My 2008 fanworks: art and two vids, all SGA because it's the ultimate soul-sucker like that! )

My brief squeeee!!! response to SGA 5x10 "First Contact", including another little episode tag/missing scene comic, a la the one I did for "Tracker" because I just can't help myself. )

This wasn't meant to be quite so long, it kinda got away from me. [livejournal.com profile] xparrot and I have been spending a lot of far too much time discussing one of our growing frustrations with SGA: the character of Keller. Finally, enough was enough, and I realized I just had to get it all down on paper, to get it out of my system, if nothing else. And thus, this monstrosity was born:

A Question of Motivation )
gnine: (Default)
OMG SQQQQQUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEe!! Squeee squeee and one more Oh god our neighbors must HATE us but it's just so damn good we can't help ourselves!SQUEEE!

Also, added to my large collection of entirely random but eminently amusing quotes: )

In summary, this finale is LOVE!

...In other fanning news, Psych is back, w00t! Missed it! And SGA has returned as well, hazaah! (and Keller is annoying me, GRRRR...but I'll save that rant for another time)
gnine: (Dr. W Fuck your shit up!)
Nonononononononoooo...and no? Also, *WHAT*?!

*ahem* If anyone needs me, I'll be in Egypt, adding yet another addition to the house boat. 'hear the river's lovely this time of year...
gnine: (SGA Rodney Sweet!)
Since coming back from Thailand (I'll post on the trip soon, I swear, with pictures even. Really, really I will), I've been working feverishly to get this picture for the SGA art fest, [livejournal.com profile] paintedspires, done in time for my posting date of Tuesday. And I succeeded, and well, it's Tuesday, at least by my time, so um…yeah.

Little preview:

So, here we are again, with another music vid (SGA again) to offer. One that ATE MY SOUL. Nomnomnomnommmm. Mmm, apparently quite tasty! Who knew? Well, other than almost every fandom I've been in…ah well.

Vid info, download links and an extensive, rambling vidder's note all found here. )

As always, I'd very much like to know what people think (truthfully, with all the hours, and amount of SOUL this has eaten up, it's more like 'incredibly anxious to know" :-p), C & C is tremendously welcome!
gnine: (SGA group hug)
Wow, three posts in a little over a week, I'm on a roll! Just here to offer up another in my ongoing SGA-as-chibi series. A McShep one this time…cause…um, yeah. That pairing really and truly has eaten my brain. Oops. (Gomen, niichan! ^_-)

Art under the cut… )

As always, C & C very much appreciated. (I thrive on it, much like a well-watered plant. Needy, perhaps, but, well, there yah go… ^_-)
gnine: (SGA McShep Smiley)
So, here we are again. Been close to a year since I posted my last vid (worked on a couple in the interim, just never finished 'em, oops :-p) so this comes in as my third complete vid, whee! For SGA this time…and McShep. Er…what can I say, I lose at being a Gen fan…'course, really, half the time I lose at being a slash fan as well so…er…yeah.

Anyway, on to the vid, d/l and youtube links found this way. )

C & C very, very much appreciated. Still kinda new to this vidding thing, would love to know what people think.

So, despite faaaar too little sleep, having to cancel weekend plans I'd been looking forward to, and my Saturday work schedule in general (oh so not a big fan for, well, the obvious reasons, i.e. WORK) I still had a FANTASTIC day. Mainly due to the weather. Or more specifically, SNOW!!!

For those of you who've lived in Japan (which is a surprisingly large number of my flist) you already are aware that winters here tend towards the mild side, at least in the three major population centers: the greater Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka (includes here in Kyoto) areas. Meaning for the Japanese, 0°C is f**king freezing. Yes, I laugh in the face of this. A LOT. And take great pleasure in freaking them out horribly when I duck outside in only short sleeves to run across to the convenient store. (It's a 30 second walk, and it's like 45°F, it's reeeallly not the end of the world people. Seriously.) It also means 'snow' for them is a light dusting that happens maybe a few times a year, and collects, if at all, for maybe an hour, before all signs have once more disappeared completely.

Except today! It snowed most of the day, nice big huge beautiful flakes, the wet kind that makes walking an exercise in balance and baby steps, but gorgeous to look at, sticking to trees, roofs, etc. In Kuzuha, where I was working, we got several inches accumulation which resulted in me having a huge, big, goofy grin firmly in place the entire day! Much to the student's and staff's amusement and/or chagrin (depending on their varying tolerances for the weather and how many times in the middle of a lesson my eyes wandered to the window. I couldn't help it. Prreeeettttyyy snow).

On the way back home on the train, I have a 25 minute ride I usually spend immersed in a book, or fic or video on my player. Today I spent the entire time staring out, couldn't look away, at the beautiful landscape, all the trees and houses, and bamboo (now THAT'S something yah don't seen in New England) silhouetted in white. And I realized just how much I missed it.

I mean, I knew already, have expressed, quite vocally at times, my envy whenever my parents sent me pics of the multiple feet of snow they have (yes, I prefer my snow measured in feet versus inches. Why yes, I just may be certifiable, what's your point?) But I just didn't realize until I was *this* happy how much I really *need* my crazy weather. I love my Falls in all their red-orange-brown-gold splendor, my Springs in their greens and purples and pinks, and my white, white winters. Okay, summer's humidity and heat and cockroaches I can so TOTALLY skip, but otherwise. Yeah, I love my seasons. A LOT. Weather, in all its variety, makes me happy. What can I say, I’m easy? ^_-

And to further the snow theme, here's another SGA chibi pic I did ), for one of [livejournal.com profile] xparrot's recent fics.

Which segues nicely into the other squee-worthy note of the day: SGA 4x16 'Trio'= oh SO GOOD! )

Just got my hot little hands on a copy of Naomi's 4th Temeraire book, hazaah! *flounces off happily to go read*
gnine: (Dresdin Files - Wiseass)
which I've been following fairly closely due to my new obsession with Fandom Wank, as well as my recent little excursion into HP fandom cause the new ASS ship amuses me faarr more than it should, I couldn't resist this meme! )

I will do a real post one of these days. I swear. I'm currently on Summer vacation and hopefully can find the time before flying off to Hokkaido, and if not before, I'll sincerely try to post about the trip after...
gnine: (Default)
So, after almost exactly two weeks, I've just finished all nine of the currently written Dresden Files. And I ADORE them! Due to being laid low with a cold last week, my options for activities became limited to sleep, reading and TV. Got a LOT of the first, did a bunch of second with regards to the Dresden series, and got most of the way thru Farscape to even out the third. (And just gotta say, it's amazing how many parallels can be drawn between Harry and John, starting with them being neck to neck in the competition of most tortured character. Ever. )

Anyway, now that I've just put aside the ninth book (meaning I have to wait for the next one. *sigh* I hate waiting. Add it to the list…which will be shortening by one in July. Can't believe we'll be getting the LAST HP book soon. WOW), my thoughts, reactions, possible questions/speculation and squeeing over the books:

Spoilers to follow, you have been WARNED )
gnine: (Phoenix Wrigth Screwed)
First up, Smallville:

Ugh, just...ugh. For more detail, I ranted about it at some length on [livejournal.com profile] lex_minions.

Next, Supernatural:

SQUEEEEE!!!!! O.M.G. We love our show! And amazingly enough, it seems our show loves us equally back! Just...YUM!

Scrubs:

Just...don't, please. Don't. Overall, good ep, but just...don't go there, not again. Plzkthnks.

Numb3rs:

WHAT. THE. HELL?!?!?!??!?!?!?!??!!?!? But...but...just NO. What the fuck, NO??!!!

Still have yet to see Heroes and Gilmore Girls, got behind on them when Niichan was visiting, gonna watch the last few eps of both all at once.

All in all, it's been a roller coaster of a week, fanning wise.

And RL wise, *ack* I HATE being sick. Stupid cold. Though it has given me plenty of time to read, on book seven of the Harry Dresden series and adoring it! Am also watching all of Farscape (saw large chunks of it when it was first showing, but not in order, enjoying it immensely) and I can't decide who's the more tortured character, John or Harry. Which just goes to show, both their lives suck. BIG TIME.

Lastly, new icon. Not incredibly applicable to this post, but...err, I wanted to use it? Yay Phoenix Wright! (That one is totally niichan's false, bringing his DS when he came to visit :-P)
