Every year, around this time, I've seen many a flist member doing this but haven't ever done so myself, never having produced enough in any given year to bother with it. But then, having read the latest batch, I was thinking back and realized that 2008, or rather, SGA, made for a VERY productive year (rarely have I done this many pieces and NEVER for one fandom), so:

January

Group Hug - My second SGA art piece, a precursor to the McShep Chibi Comic series. We were still new to the fandom then, in our first blush, resisting the Mcshep (no, really, I have *no* idea what I was thinking). Little did I know a year later I'd still be doing them! (Seriously, I *NEVER* stay in a fandom this long. Like...EVER)

February

Teyla's Warm and Fuzzy Place - This was done as a illustration for [livejournal.com profile] xparrot's [livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic fic, On the Rocks (And I Mean Ice!). Flashfic proved very inspirational for my sister last year, and in turn that inspired me. I have a later one I did for another of her stories, as well as a half-finished, reeeealllly-need-to-get-around-to-coloring-it pic for her Pern AU .

All for You was my first foray into the SGA vidding world (I started to vid the year before last, with Smallville, completing two before I flitted in my fandom-butterfly like ways to other fandoms). By this point, I'd come round whole-heartedly to the McShep and just couldn't help myself.

Peck on the Cheek - Another pic in the chibi style, my first McShep pic (but certainly not my last! ^_-)

March

Work was hectic, and managed to not only not do any art, but apparently didn't even do a single journal post. Oops. Though I was working feverishly on my next vid, which brings us to:

April

What is Eternal? - As the song (and my journal post at the time said), "the years and the *hours*, the seconds and minutes..." Truly, this thing Ate. My. Soul. And all my time. Man, was I sleep-deprived during those couple of weeks. "Just gonna work on it a little longer, just a few more min--oh look, I have to get up for work in three hours. Whoops!" Teaching on next to no sleep, always a hoot.

But, worth it in the end, I think. It won first place in the Stargate Music Video Awards: Rodney category. (Thank you so SO much, everyone who voted!) My very first fan award *bounces around like a crazy crazy thing*!! (Course, YouTube currently has it disabled due to possible copyright music infringement. *grumbles* I've had multiple people tell me they went out and *bought* the album after hearing the song in the vid. C'mon people, FREE ADVERTISING! *sighs* At least MegaUpload hasn't taken to removing things yet)

May

Night Reflections - Done for the [livejournal.com profile] paintedspires initial fest. After doing several chibis, I was in the mood to do something more realistic. This thing took TIME. Lots and lots of time (as well as layers in Photoshop). But ever so much fun, and reminded me how much I love doing landscapes/backgrounds. And water.

An Oni Hanami - The other illustration for my sister's flashfic, the one for her story Kuro to Ao.

June

Good Morning Kiss - Having had so much fun with the more realistic style I used in "Night Reflections", I decided to do another one, with a McShep focus this time.

Sunsets, Kisses and Matchmaking Whales - So, while this didn't actually get posted anywhere 'till September, I'm listing it in June because that's when I did it. I was lucky enough to be one of the betas for [livejournal.com profile] friendshipper and [livejournal.com profile] naye's Big Bang Story, A Clear and Different Light and this pic was done mid-story, right after they decided, despite it starting out as a gen, the McShep was kinda inevitable in the universe they'd created. I dashed this off as a gift to celebrate the decision and they later wrote the ending with it in mind. Fic really is the best inspiration, which brings me to the next pic:

July

Fireworks and Family - [livejournal.com profile] sheafrotherdon's Iowa 'verse was one of several fics that swayed me to the McShep side, and continues to be one of my favorite AUs (in a fandom chalk full of awesome ones!) so for Fourth of July I whipped this pic up.

Let's Face It, They're 12... - What I consider the first real McShep Chibi Comic.

August

A quick John/Rodney sketch -Done for one of [livejournal.com profile] lamardeuse's fests, one of the many sketches to come out of having some free time at work.

Important Making Out - Done for the [livejournal.com profile] mcsmooch fest held to hold us over while waiting for "The Shrine". It was after doing this one that I got the inkling to do an actual series of comics.

September - December

Chibi comics, lots of 'em:

A "Little" Crush
"Creature Comforts"
"Mental Note" - Done as a tag for "Tracker" because I apparently didn't think finishing one comic a week was challenging enough. ^_-
"He likes me. He really, really likes me!"
"Could have been in Mensa"
"An Attention Deficit"
"Painfully Obvious"
"Pier Therapy"
"Miscommunication"
"Not Gonna Happen"
"Movie Night Mayhem"
"The Costume Question" Color comic, done for Halloween. In truth, I wish I had time to do them all in color.
"Mission Protocols"
'Dining Difficulties'
"The Joys of Family" - Thanksgiving color Special.
Christmas Cosplay - Christmas color comic, done for [livejournal.com profile] greyias.

And there's one more pic, done for [livejournal.com profile] sga_art_santa but the artists have yet to be posted, so can't link it yet.

All in all, a crazily productive year for me. Oh SGA, you inspiring, wonderful time-and-soul-sink, what would I do without you? I can't say how long it'll last (I can feel those fandom butterfly wings starting to flutter a bit), but I'm gonna enjoy it while I can! Here's hoping for another inspiring year.

Oh, thanks for all the links in one place. Putting into my memories. I've become a big, big fan over the past few months and I really hope you stay in this fandom for a while, I'm sure we haven't seen all you have to offer. *clings* I'm looking forward to new stuff in 2009. ♥

Well, there's at least still some left in me (started working on another comic at work today, so ^_-)

Thank you so much for all the wonderful feedback! *big big huggles*

When you're productive, you sure are productive! Thanks for the handy list, lots of old favorites here. "Teyla's warm and fuzzy place" still makes me all melty inside, and I simply don't know which comic I love most (currently leaning towards "could have been in MENSA").

It's all SGA, I swear, the fandom is just so damn inspiring! And everyone is so supportive! Thanks so much for all the feed back, so glad you like! *big huggles*

You didn't tell us you had won a video award for "What is Eternal!" CONGRATULATIONS!! Well deserved! I think it is my favorite of your work this year, with "Night Reflections" and "Fireworks & Family" close seconds...

And the most recent piece for sga art santa fits right up there among the faves! Even without your ID, it's pretty obvious to anyone who's followed your SGA chibis which piece on that comm is yours. HILARIOUS!! I burst out laughing the minute the eye blinked, and just thinking about it makes me grin foolishly. The animation and the details are quite wonderful; and the concept is brilliantly amusing. Well done!

Yeah, the winners were only announced a few days ago. I was really happy! As I said above, my first fan award, so...

And yeah, I think it's not really that hard to guess who did the comic, but still, was a "secret santa" so...

Love you, *huggles*

So many squishes in one place - thanks for all of this - I missed some of the earlier pieces and they're all great! :-)

I just came back to your journal to comment again on What is Eternal and thank you for making this vid. Not only I've watched it about four dozen times by now (and it stays fresh and goosebump-inducing with every viewing... I'm looking forward to rewatching the episode now, with the vid in the back of my mind). But also I ordered the full CD of Beethoven's Last Night which just arrived in the mail. I'm listening to it right now and, wow, I'm enthralled. Often I'll buy a CD because I like one song and find the rest to be so-so... but this one is gold from start to finish. So, thanks for tipping me off to Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Always so cool to discover a new band.

Awww *blushes* Thank you so so much!

And yeah, isn't Trans-Siberian Orchestra fantastic? I was introduced to them ages ago with one of their Christmas albums, and much later, when I heard they'd done their own musical, I feel for it so hard. And it just works so well for Rodney!

I wanted to let you know how much your work has helped get me through a really bad year. I adore your chibi's and the vid What is Eternal is the most breathtaking vid I have seen in this fandom and I have watched many. The scenes you picked are spot on and quite frankly I am not the least bit surprised it won first place. I truly hope you continue not only the chibis but more vids though I am sorry for your sleepless nights.

Wow *blushes* Thank you so very very much. Your comment brightened my day tenfold, thank you! *huggles* I do very much hope to do more vids, and as for chibis, they'll definitely be at least a few more (working on one now ^_^). And here's hoping to a better, happier year in 2009! *big huggles* ^_^
