More meme-age action...

So, here I am, doing that seven quirks/factoids/random tidbits meme. Tagged by
elzkitten.
1. As anyone who's spent time with me in person, particularly in my room, will know, I like it to be COLD. My friends nicknamed my room in college the "meat locker." I have fond memories of one particular, wonderful conversation: Friend: "there's snow gathering on the *inside* of the window sill, can we please close it?" Me: *sigh* "Oh fine, I'll turn off the fan, alright?"
2. I like heights. Like, a lot. Not in the suicidal way, but more the "wow, I really, reeallly wanna jump from here if only the stupid impact wouldn't kill me. Stupid terminal velocity being all…'terminal' in the end and all that. *sigh*" Standing at the Grand Canyon, ohhh the temptation that was…
3. I'm a slob. In a major way. But, strangely enough, I actually *like* things being really neat. It's the laziness that just wins out in the end. But, on the rare occasions when I get off my lazy ass and actually clean, I get very driven about it. I'll not only clean my room, but tear apart my closet, organize all my drawers of papers, get almost neurotic about clearing out even the littlest bit of junk stuck in between the tatami, etc. Course, then after a week or two, the laziness once more reigns supreme and my room is yet again a pig sty. *shrug*
4. I'm an avid reader, mainly of Sci/Fi/Fantasy (and more lately, manga) but I have this huge gap when it comes to Young Adult fiction, of virtually *any* genre. This is because, in fourth grade, with my reading level starting to hover at the average to below average level, (which anyone who knows my family would know that's just soo not right), youngest child syndrome struck. My older sister and brother, who both have always read way above their level, were reading "Dragonriders of Pern" and talking about it. A lot. And of course, kept dismissing me, annoying baby sister, from any conversation with the excuse "well, you haven't read it." So I decided to change that. I put aside my Boxcar Children and picked up the first Pern book. Took me four months, but I'm stubborn. I kept reading. And reading, and just from there went right on to adult fantasy, and never looked back. Course, now there are times I sometimes regret it cause my peers will discuss such and such book that they, and everyone else, read in eighth grade and loved and I'm like "huh, what now." :-p
5. I have this necklace…like a charm bracelet, but different. I always wear it. Like, always. It comes off for showers and swimming and occasionally when I'm working out cause it jangles like crazy. Otherwise, yeah, I wear it to bed, etc. It's a combination of memorable from my travels, gifts/reminders of my friends and my good luck charm. Every country I go to, I get something new for it.
6. I keep a journal that I write in every night and have been doing so for ten years now. If I miss a night (which happens on occasion for various reasons) I get all widgy with myself.
7. I hate shoes…and socks for that matter. Any time I can possibly get away with out wearing them, they're gone. I had one job, at a small office, that I perpetually walked around in bare feet. This led to the occasional teasing…and a co-worker hiding my shoes on me. Repeatedly. Until I got into the habit of hiding them first, immediately after removing them.
Er, I'd tag people but most of my flist seems to already have done it and/or already been tagged so…er…anyone reading this that *hasn't* been tagged, consider yourself "it"!
