Update: RL, Fanning & Artwork

So, it has once more been ages since I've updated. I try, I really do...I just fail SPECTACULARLY!! :-P I was considering doing this as several different posts, but then figured that the odds of them all actually getting done, what with my track record, was low, so, one big post it is...
So first, in terms of RL, after 8 months in New Zealand, followed by 8 months in Australia, I returned to the States in February. Hanging with the sibs & co, which is always a blast. I had such an amazing time down under, and met so sooo many fantastic people! *waves* I miss you guys!!
Also saw so much great stuff. Got to take several great trips out of Sydney, down to Melbourne and the Southern Coast with my best friend and her husband and up to Port Douglas and the Great Barrier Reef (HOMG sooooooo amazing!! We only did one day of snorkeling, and we all regretted not doing more!) with the sibs plus their two housemates (who got married while we were up there, super fun!). (Links lead to my picasa albums)
Leaving during one of the hottest summers on record in Australia, with heat and sun and palm trees!! to arrive in the midst of one of Seattle's normal dark, dreary, rainy GRAY winters was HARD!...but at least we're not getting slammed with the snow the East coast has gotten. That's something at least. :-p
I'm currently looking for temporary work as I intend to head abroad again sometime in the fall. In the meantime I'm chilling...and having lots of time to fan, which brings me to...
Fanning!
Which I've been doing in SPADES! After a three year drought with nary a real obsession, in the last 8 months I've had a torrential downpour. Since I last posted in...*goes and checks* SEPTEMBER! OOPS! I was still in my Loki craze. Shortly there after, due to CHEATING (by means of being an EVOL h/c temptress) on
takadainmate's part, I succumbed to even more comic fanning.
This time it was DC and Nightwing. Now, I've always been fond of the first Robin, because, well, he rocks! But I'd never read the comics. Now I have...ALL of them. I have read pretty much every issue of every comic Dick Grayson has appeared in since 1986/post-crisis, as well as a few from before that. Um...OOPS? I also managed to read these 1000+ issues in under a month...um, double oops? 29 years, I've avoided comics. The comic-adjacent? Sure! Love the Batman cartoons, and the X-men ones and all the films, tv shows, etc. But comics, nooooo. Steered clear of that clusterf**k. And then in the span of 3 months, I'm reading copious amounts of both Marvel AND DC! There is just not enough *headdesk*. Truly :-p
And then shortly following that, I dabbled a bit in the Young Avengers comics, cause, really, once you start down the dark path...*shrug* why the hell not?
Next there was Teen Wolf. Now, I watched the first season back in June, and then second season as it aired, but I'd been avoiding the actual fic/fandom until I could fan with my sister. So when they visited at Christmas, our whole group watched it together (snorkeling, site-seeing, koala-holding, etc. by day, hilarious werewolf hijinks by night, good times ^^) So then I spent most of Jan & Feb catching up on all the glorious fic that had been accumulating \o/. And now less than 2 months till season three starts, w00t
And now most recently, in just the past two weeks, neechan and I have succumbed utterly and completely to Person of Interest. Been seeing stuff on it for a while and been curious, but the squee levels on my twitter and tumblr skyrocketed in the last month, enough to finally motivate us to sit down and watch it. And it was GLORIOUS! It feels so much like a classic old skool fandom. Keep having Sentinel flashbacks. Ah, natsukashii! Loving it! Finch! Reese! Beeeear! So much repressed feelings with far too short, but all the more precious for the lack, friendship moments! The season two premier especially!!
Sadly, there is not enough fic for it, especially long stuff. *siiiiiiigh* But, the fandom does seem to be growing rapidly, so...*fingers crossed*. And neechan is writing for it, she's already finished two fics, w00t! In the mean time, I'm cranking out the chibis, three done in the past week. I just can't help it, they're too adorable! Annnnd, that segues nicely into...
ART DUMP!!
I've actually been remarkably productive in the past 6 months, art-wise, though all but one of them are chibis...oops? But in various styles; I've been experimenting as I'm just not ever completely happy with them, especially my line work, which has never been one of my strengths :-p
Avengers...and by that I mostly mean Loki!
I did a whole series of the Avengers with Loki's mythical kids cause um...drawing monster children in chibi form is waaaay too much fun! ^^

Date: 2013-04-08 10:11 pm (UTC)I just started watching Person of Interest (literally, haven't even finished episode one yet) but it seems interesting enough. Why do all things to watch come along at once, it's like a wonderful curse of pretties ;D

Date: 2013-06-15 11:21 pm (UTC)'hi' from 2 months later?
...the idea of Loki going to Coulson to babysit is HILARIOUS! Poor poor Coulson!
And I'm guessing by now you finished PoI, enjoyed it?

Date: 2013-06-21 09:14 pm (UTC)I got distracted a little by life and shiny new anime series and Hannibal (it really is impossible to explain to anyone who hasn't watched it how it looks absolutely beautiful, even as people are being eviscerated, and therefore I had to hide in my room watching it by myself like some kind of gollum for disturbed pretties) and you managed to reply just as I'd finally finished S1 and started S2. It's AWESOME and I love it and now I need fic with plot and yet more plot because for a show that was oddly difficult to get into the storylines have really sucked me in. While I get the pairings- all the pairings, ship anyone, EVERYONE- I just want more plot to tide me over until there's new episodes. There are going to be more, right? I've only got two episodes left and I'm already getting withdrawals.
*coughs*
I mean, yes. Yes, I enjoyed it.

Date: 2013-06-25 11:29 am (UTC)But yes, PoI and yeah, pairing all the people sounds about right! And yes, it got renewed for a third season, hazaah! Just don't wanna WAIT *pout*

Date: 2013-06-28 11:44 pm (UTC)(also more Chihayafuru and UtaPri. Because I have nothing better to do than keep up with a million different series, especially when they're purely for shallow reasons like singing pretties or competitive board games ;P)
WAITING SUCKS. Tv schedules are evil and always shove everything on at the same time, leaving you with months of nothing, urgh. I'm glad it got renewed though, I need more of the Machine being amazing and amassing a little collection of minions.

Date: 2013-06-29 02:04 am (UTC)Waiting SOO soo sucks, and i have SOO many shows I'm waiting on right now too :-p *siiiiigh*

Date: 2013-06-29 08:39 pm (UTC)Ooh and Karneval. I forgot about that one earlier. Totally watching it for the plot and not the inevitably tragic gay, hehe.
Should probably have used the waiting period to catch up on any of my To Read list whatsoever, but instead have started watching Psych. Because slightly humorous crime shows fit nicely into a quiet evening in? Idek

PoI is so much fun, ne? They work surprisingly well in chibi ^^
And things are going pretty well, though I miss being in the Southern Hemisphere! *siiiiigh* ^__- How go things with you?

Date: 2013-06-15 11:37 pm (UTC)And they are most delightful in chibi form!
And aww, glad to hear that, and also sympathy re: missing the southern half. Not bad here; the flat is currently sitting around being decidedly Sunday Morning-ish. :D And hockey is still happening for me a lot, unsurprisingly.

Date: 2013-06-15 11:19 pm (UTC)That would be Gojyo and Hakkai from Saiyuki. It is one of my absolute favorite manga series ever. There is also an anime which is....eeheheh...erm. See, the Saiyuki anime was very low budget in the beginning, which is the part that covers the manga. So it's art is BAAAD in a lot of places. And then the art starts getting bad, but they had run out of manga by that point, so the plot starts going a bit off the rails. The sequel animes have much better art, but only have bits of plot following the manga and then again go all crazy. But...there are GREAT seiyuu involved, and it's still fun at points and the manga is just all around wonderful and the boys are sooo slashy (it's a four boy series, with two pretty much almost canon pairings...though really any of the combination of four is popular)..and um...tl:dr can you tell I love this series? ^___-
Also thanks so so much, so glad you like my stuff...ah McShep, I rather miss them...I still have one comic started that I did for an auction that I really should finish one of these days...oops :--p
