So , have now had all my classes, most of them twice. Looking like its gonna be a good semester...

AND OMG GONNA KILL THIS STUPID MAC COMPUTER I'M ON RIGHT NOW AT WORK...GRRR SO ANNOYING!! Among other annoying problems, one of the shift keys, has suddenly decided to stop working...DIE DIE!!!

Anyway, back to updates on my oh so mundane life. Classes are classes, the Desire class looks like its going to be amazing! Also, I swear like half of the 200 person class or whatever are Risley people ;-p, (Risley being my dorm...well, program house, and an oh so interesting place to live. Supposedly the performing and visual arts house its more the gathering of odd people who don't quite fit in but are all very accepting and interesting and I LOVE it there!) Anyway, the class is wild, the professor great, and rather funny. And also seems bent on disturbing/offending/making uncomfortable as many people as possible. I discovered its very hard to pay attention to a lecture with 1950s, black and white, soft core lesbian porn playing in the background, even if the sound was turned off!

Other classes should be good as well, hopefully.

In other, more fan related ramblings, Last Exile looks reeeally interesting, the animation is just beautiful! Looking forward to seeing more tonight in ASIC! Also, due to my niichan's rantings and urgings, neechan and I have plans to spend the weekend watching the first 10+ eps of Battle Star Galactica...apparentlys its quite good...that should be interesting. Ah, marathoning a non-anime...haven't done that in a while...Well, okay, that's not strictly true. Haven't watched any NEW ones. Was marathoning B5 over break while I inflicted introduced it to some friends.

And something else that I ganked from [livejournal.com profile] dramaminequeen

Ah, marathoning... B5 holds up very well to that treatment. In fact, it probably doesn't make much sense any other way.

Back when I was first into B5 and was trying to convert everyone in sight, I had missed most of the first season and didn't have any tapes of anything earlier than mid-second season... until a kind, kind person on the internet made me 8 tapes with most of the first two seasons on them. So I promptly recruited everyone I knew for a weekend catch-up marathon.

The only catch was, the tapes were compiled from copies of copies of copies of tapes that fans who were lucky enough to catch the first season had traded. The quality was, well, it was of the kind best described by an old VHS-based fansub site when giving a C- rating: "WTF?? Is that Ranma or Shampoo??" The quality of the Gathering movie was so bad, it made the acting in the pilot look good. (But maybe that was because we couldn't hear half the dialogue even with the volume turned all the way up.)

We watched the Whole. Freaking. Thing. in two days. (Well, season 1 anyway.) Fond memories...

How are the G-Defend translations coming? ;-)

Yeah, the first time I saw B5, I watched the entire thing in a think about three weeks? Maybe a bit less. It was Xmas break, my sister brought the tapes home from a friend in college. I was still in HS, so for half of fourth and all of fifth season, I was back at school and rushing home each day to spend the entire afternoon marathoning...I will also NEVER forget the Christmas eve. We were watching late, late into the night, and she made me promise that the "next ep is the last one, then we're going to bed." Course that ep happened to be Z'ha'dum. So of course, Christmas morning, am I excited 'bout opening presents. COURSE NOT! All I could think of was racing upstairs to see the next ep! Was crazy!...in that wonderful happy fan squeeeee kinda way! ;)

...and err...the translations...um...go. Alas, didn't get almost any done at xmas break like I wanted to. So basically only have Vol. 1 done and the first story in Vol. 2...Gomen nasai. I hope to get back to them soon.

I'm in no position to nudge -- I've been stuck on the beginning of Koori vol. 12 for six months. Been meaning to get back to it, but, but... JLPT 3, and learning kanji, and Silver Diamond, and, and... *wahhh*

Maybe we can encourage each other? I'd love to see yours whenever you get done with them. Your icon continues to be insanely cute, BTW. Sometimes, when I'm REALLY bored, I just zone out and watch it...
