So…No Thailand pics as of yet…Er, sorry Mom? Soon, I swear. Really, really I do. But for now, more art. Done nominally for the mcsmooch comm. Was in the mood for some Rodney/John, non-chibi cuteness…so…voila.

So, I'll admit, I cheated a bit on the laptop… I just hate drawing them :-p. On the other hand, the fact I didn't need a reference pic to do the white board markers kinda worries me. I think I may use them waaaaay too much at work. Also, I realize there's something sorta wonky with the perspective (otherwise known as my arch-nemesis in art). One of these days I'll actually take a real art course and hopefully that'll teach me how to properly combat my foe. But, until that day, guess I'll just have to muddle through, weird angles and all :-p.

This is beautiful! You're right, there's something ever so slightly perspective-wonky but the quality of everything makes that pretty irrelevant. The entire thing just looks barely shy of real, if that makes sense! You are absolutely fabulous at that, making things look real! The SHADOWS are what always capture me on your pieces--you just blow me away.

Also? I love the stitching on the curtains, the crinkle in the pudding cup lid, and the twist of cord from the laptop. The latter I REALLY love, because it shows how much they drag these things all over Atlantis and beyond.

I think the perspective may be slightly too sharp and angular - I think in real life the angle you used wouldn't be so acute.

And don't worry, I've been taking art classes for ages, I've never been able to get perspective. What I learned that was even more valuable than perspective was how to diguise when you can't draw it.

But honestly, if you hadn't drawn attention to it, I wouldn't have notice. The picture is just gorgeous and sweet and you've managed to conquer my two greatest foes - color and detail/scenery, so I'm pretty in awe of you right there.

...I think part of the trouble is I used several different angles. Oops. Really, it's not perspective alone, it's *straight lines* that truly defeat me. That's why I find scenery so easy, don't need straight lines. Give me rolling, bumpy hills all they way! ^_-

I'm just boggled by all the little details (the laptop! and the cable! the markers! the pudding cup! eee!) and you've got the jewel colors of the wall just right. And Rodney's face -- it's perfectly, obviously him, and yet it doesn't have that "traced from a publicity shot of the actor" look that so much fanart does.

Wow, this is a great job! I love it all from the pudding cup (PUDDING<3) to Rodney's face. God, I love Rodney's face. You did a wonderful job on that with the shadows and shades and highlights. Blending in colors and everything <3<3<3<3

I took painting classes for a few years, your skills are still light years ahead of mine! Lovely art overall, though I personally would have added more clutter to the desk, like rumpled up papers with hastily-scrawled equations, but OMG, pudding cup is love :D

I wondered when I saw your sister's McSmooch story this morning whether I might see an illustration for that before I saw Thailand pictures... not quite; but I guess Rodney/John temptation is just too great to overcome when the mood strikes, eh? My disappointment notwithstanding on the lack of trip photos, I have to admit that I am impressed once again with your drawing. I will be forever jealous of your ability to capture fabric and texture, from the uniforms and the transparency and gentle folds in the curtains to the reflections on the desk and the shadows and highlights on the city outside the window. And details like the pudding cup, foil lid, wound up monitor cord, and uniform patches make this picture! But really impressive?.... is your capture of the fleshtones and light and shadow on their faces. When I first saw the thumbnail, I thought it might be a photo manip until I opened the full drawing! And of course, this is just the kind of affection I love to see in my OTPs... as I told your sister, you're slowly winning me over! ^_~
